We are a group that seeks to tackle social challenges “at a level that transforms entire industries” through robotics and systems engineering. Our members include industry experts, technologists, and entrepreneurs, all united by a vision to bring “Omotenashi” (the spirit of Japanese hospitality) to life through robots.
Our goal is to continually drive breakthroughs in labor productivity and make lasting contributions to humanity. By focusing on industries with a scale of over $100B and fundamentally addressing workforce shortages, we strive to deliver happiness to customers through robots—which, in turn, is our own happiness as well.
“Implementing Reverse Scalability in Society”
Throughout history, humanity has built social systems that grew in scale to match population increases. However, with population decline now a certainty—especially in developed countries—there is a need for new social frameworks that can thrive with fewer people. By applying robotics and systems engineering to eliminate workforce shortages at their root, our aim is to create a world where everyone can receive “Omotenashi”-level service, even with a smaller population.
“Omotenashi”: A Japanese cultural concept of genuinely welcoming others and offering kindness without discrimination.
Unlike uniform, manual-based responses, “Omotenashi” means attending closely and politely to each individual. From the 300-plus inspection items involved in hotel room cleaning to various other operational processes, we are building a system where robots can learn human common sense and replicate “Omotenashi” with high fidelity.
Carrying this spirit forward is no small task. However, we believe that by harnessing robots and AI to make ‘Omotenashi’ scalable and sustainable, we can not only solve labor shortages but also bring greater happiness to people and pass on this culture to future generations. Our name, “Omotenashi Robotics,” reflects our commitment to preserving and passing down this wonderful cultural heritage via robots.
